Carp fishing is very popular in the UK, maybe because specialist carp lakes can be found in almost every city and carp tackle is so widely available. If you have tried at least once fishing for carp, then you have probably fallen in love with it. But if you are only a beginner to carp fishing or generally do not know about carp fishing tackle i will try to help you.
So, if you are planning to give carp fishing a go these are all the carp fishing tackle you will need: carp rigs, probably at least two carp rods, carp reels to go with your carp rods, line, carp bait and a lot it.
Carp reels
When it comes to carp tackle, big pit reels are some of the most common carp reels used for carp fishing. Do you know what big pit carp reels are? These carp reels are equipped with a large fixed spool and generally have a very high capacity. Large spool is essential if you want to achieve an even load of you line. If you are looking to get yourself a new set of carp reels make sure you do your research because you need to get carp reels which can deliver a very smooth cast. Smooth cast is essential because the easier the line comes off, the further the carp rig would fly and the more likely you catch yourself a good size carp. I would suggest you do your research online, read some reviews, speak to fellow carp anglers on industry social networks or visit your local carp fishing tackle store this will defiantly help you decide what carp reels are best for you.
Carp rods
If you do not know much about carp fishing tackle then this would give you some idea. I have found that the best length for a carp rod is about twelve foot. However, you may need a shorter rod if the place where you are fishing is not very large. It is up to you really if you want to get your rod online or from a carp tackle specialist, but i would probably get it online since you are more likely to get yourself a good deal.
Carp rods are best managed with the use of rod rests mainly because carp fishing often consists of a lot of waiting around and a good quality rest for your carp rods can really do the trick for you. If you do not own one yet I would strongly suggest you get one from your local carp fishing tackle shop so you can see and feel what you buy, plus you could also try it in store with carp rods which will defiantly help you to decide and get the one which is right for you.
Carp rigs
Do you know much about carp rigs and how they are set up? Carp rigs are just another essential bit of carp tackle you need for carp fishing. Did you also know that the size of carp you catch can largely depend on quality, reliability and effectiveness of your carp rigs? This is because over time carp can get accustomed to carp rigs and can easily outsmart you. The most common carp rigs used for carp is a bottom fishing set up. In such set up the line becomes weighted and as a result lays on the very lakebed. If you are using such set up you need to make sure that your line, trace and weights are in such colour so to make them concealed and you bate is sitting a couple of inches below the hook or carp may notice it and will be less willing to bite. Such set up is most advantages because carp will bite the bait without feeling the hook.
Be wise when it comes to selecting carp tackle. Good quality carp tackle is not hard to find, just speak to other anglers on lakes and social networks and try to get some idea on what is good carp tackle.
